MBCT is an innovative and proven program to prevent relapse of depression based on the research of Drs. Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale and documented in their book Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, the program combines the tools of cognitive therapy with the practice and clinical application of mindfulness meditation. Focus of the Program Research clearly indicates that worry and rumination contribute to feelings of worthlessness, guilt, global negativism, perfectionism, self-condemnation and intense fear of the future. The focus of the program is the utilization of mindful (relaxed and focused) attention as an alternative to rumination and worry. Through instruction and practice participants systematically learn skills that will enhance their ability to recognize and cope more effectively with stressful thought patterns, situations and triggers. The program provides a supportive environment in which to learn simple meditative techniques with hands-on experiences and cognitive skill-building exercises.
The text with CDs, workbook and related readings are provided.
